The hockey world has been kind to Mark Recchi. Three Stanley Cup championships and 22 seasons in the NHL attest to just that.
And although the 43-year-old won't be lacing up his skates to play left wing anymore, he has no intention of leaving the game entirely. Like many players, including ex-Bruin Bill Guerin, Recchi wants to get involved with player development for NHL youngsters, The Boston Globe reports.
"That’s what I'd really like to do," Recchi told the Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont. "You see a lot of guys moving into that player development role now, working with kids, building relationships with the younger guys from the time they are drafted and so on … I think I'd really enjoy that."
Recchi's agent, Rick Curran, is currently looking for a similar fit for the three-time Stanley Cup champ that Guerrin and Don Sweeney hold with the Penguins and Bruins, respectively.
Recchi has also said he'd "entertain" the idea of helping out the Players Association if ever asked.
