Although the NBA is knee-deep in a sticky lockout, New Jersey Nets rookie Marshon Brooks is still finding ways to excite on the basketball court.
Playing in Manhattan in the Nike Pro-City tournament, Brooks dropped a staggering 48 points. Although the competition at the Pro-City tournament isn't, say, the same as a back-to-back against the Heat and Magic, Brooks still put on a show for all in attendance despite being away from the game for a bit and battling a calf cramp in the second half.
Brooks finished with 48 points on 17-of-32 shooting from the field including going 6-of-8 from 3-point range. He also added five rebounds, one assist, one block and five turnovers in a game that had a streetball atmosphere to it.
Originally drafted by the Celtics 24th overall, Brooks was traded on draft day to the Nets in exchange for the 27th overall pick (JaJuan Johnson) and a 2014 second-round pick.
According to his agent, Seth Cohen, these inner-city tournaments will be Brooks' form of Summer League while the NBA attempts to figure out its labor situation.
