Turkish basketball club Besiktas is at it again.

After making headlines by reportedly signing New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams, CBSsports.com reports that the club is now setting its sights on Los Angeles Lakers all-time great, Kobe Bryant.

In an interview with the New York Times on Thursday, Besiktas head coach Ergin Ataman said he would like to go after Bryant, if the superstar is available and willing to listen.

“If there’s a possibility, we’ll talk with Kobe if he’d like to play in Europe with Deron and with other guys to play we can talk with him,” said Ataman. “If Kobe would like to play with us, we will also contact his agent and maybe with him.”

It seems unlikely that Bryant, at age 32, would want to travel across the world to play basketball, let alone with a club that has only won the Turkish Basketball League once, in 1975.

However, with Williams reportedly signed on to play due to the lockout, and with Allen Iverson inking a deal last year, the Turkish club does have a track record, albeit a short and tenuous one, of attracting top echelon NBA talent.
