If the Jets are feeling any added pressure to sign free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha after the Patriots traded for Chad Ochocinco, New York may have just gotten a little bit of luck.

The Houston Texans, believed to be one of the Jets' main opponents in the quest for Asomugha, have signed former Cincinnati cornerback Johnathan Joseph, according to reports. The signing was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who added that "Nnamdi to Jets looking more likely."

Johnson, a 2006 first-round pick out of South Carolina, had 14 interceptions (three returned for touchdowns) in five seasons with the Bengals.

The general consensus is that the Joseph signing all but means that the Texans are no longer in on Asomugha, arguably the best free agent on the market.

The Jets and 49ers are the reported frontrunners still in the Asomugha race.
