Few teams in the East Region have played as many tournament games as Andover, Mass., and few teams have been as successful as the Andover squad. The team has only lost once in tournament play and has looked dominant at times, especially in section play. During the section tournament, Andover outscored its opponents 61-15 in four games.
Both pitching and offense have been highlights for the Massachusetts champion. The team scored more than 10 runs on 10 different occasions, while only allowing more than five runs four times in 16 games.
Coach Paul Finn believes the team’s toughest game was its loss to Andover American. The team proceeded to win two straight against Andover, winning the district. Add this perseverance to the tendency to blow opponents out, and you’re looking at a tough opponent.
