The early 1990s weren't the happiest of days for the Red Sox and Fenway Park.
After falling short down the stretch in 1991, the Sox stumbled in '92, finishing seventh in the American League.
It was also the first time in nearly 70 years that there wasn't a Yawkey figurehead for the organization as owner Jean Yawkey, the wife of prior owner Tom Yawkey, passed away early in 1992.
Finishing with their worst record in 26 years, there wasn't much to cheer about other than Sox legend Wade Boggs picking up his 2,000th hit in front of the Fenway Faithful. The celebration was short-lived, however, as Boggs packed up and left town after the season was over.
