As you may have heard by now — and really all you had to do was log onto Facebook — an earthquake rumbled the East Coast a little bit on Tuesday afternoon.
An hour or so after the earthquake struck, another quake took place in Williamsport, Pa. — sort of.
The Netherlands and Cumberland, R.I., squared off in a consolation game at the Little League World Series on Tuesday afternoon. Following a home run from Netherlands' Phayson Antonio, the European representative to the World Series staged a pretty elaborate celebration.
As Antonio touched home plate, his teammates, who had gathered around the dirt surrounding home plate, all fell to the ground — as if Antonio had caused a tremor.
The timing is obviously great, but the celebration is more a take on Prince Fielder and the Brewers' similar celebration following one of his walk-off home runs in 2009.
If the Rhode Island team was upset about the celebration, they got their retribution where it mattered most — on the scoreboard. The home run put Europe up 7-3, but the tournament's New England representative battled back to put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth to win.
