The Patriots on Tuesday locked up their two selections from the second round in April's NFL draft.
Cornerback Ras-I Dowling and running back Shane Vereen signed with the Patriots, though terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Downling, 23, was a team captain at Virginia in his senior season. The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder made first team All-ACC and second team All-American in 2010.
Vereen, 22, averaged 5.1 yards per carry in his career at California, where he rushed for 29 touchdowns and caught another six touchdowns.
