The Red Sox offense has been fantastic all season, which is due in large part to the performance of Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia at the top of the order.
NESN's Peter Gammons said prior to Wednesday's game against the Indians that Ellsbury has quickly become an MVP candidate. The center fielder leads all leadoff hitters in nearly every major offensive statistical category and has been a catalyst for the best offense in baseball.
Gammons also praised Pedroia, who continues to bring energy, deliver at the plate and provide Gold Glove caliber defense every time he steps on the field. In fact, Gammons said that Pedroia is a better player now than he was during his 2008 MVP season.
To hear what else Gammons had to say about the dynamic 1-2 punch, check out the video above from Red Sox Gameday Live Presented by UNO.
