NFL Rule 3, Section 22, Article 2, Note 2, better known as the "Tuck Rule." On Jan. 19, 2002, this footnote in the NFL rule book helped kickstart the Patriots' dynasty. Pats quarterback Tom Brady appeared as though he had fumbled after being hit by Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson, but upon review the "Tuck Rule" determined the pass to be incomplete, allowing New England to retain the ball and eventually defeat the Raiders.
