The Patriots won't have to worry about a Lawyer Milloy-esque reunion with Brandon Meriweather.
Meriweather signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Sunday, less than 24 hours after getting released by the Patriots. The 2007 first-round pick might fit well in Chicago's defensive style, which plays with an aggressive edge.
It also ended speculation that he could sign with the Dolphins (Meriweather lives in Miami, and the Dolphins need help at safety) or the Jets (because crazy things happen within the battle lines of a rivalry). When the Patriots controversially released Milloy prior to their opener in 2003, he led the Bills to a 31-0 stomping of the Pats in Week 1.
If Meriweather sticks with the Bears in 2011, the only way the two sides could meet again would be in the Super Bowl in Indianapolis.
