The Massachusetts State Lottery looks to build off the Bruins' success as the black and gold begin their defense of the Stanley Cup in the 2011-12 season.
Three partnerships with the Bruins, as well as other professional sports teams in the state, have totaled in $1.1 billion of sports-themed ticket sales alone. Last season, the Bruins instant tickets were released in September, and sold out two weeks after the Game 7 victory in the Stanley Cup Final in June. The new 2011 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup champions instant tickets are being released on Oct. 4 at a special Stanley Cup event at the TD Garden.
Instant cash prizes total over $39 million, featuring six top winners of $250,000, and 66,000 prizes worth $10 to $100,000. Not a winner the first time around? Players can enter their non-winning tickets into a second-chance drawing for official Bruins gear, VIP packages and even an "On-Ice Challenge" between periods of a Bruins home game with a chance to win $250,000.
"After witnessing the remarkable reaction people have had to the Bruins' Stanley Cup Championship, we wanted to find a way capture some of that excitement and share it with lottery players and fans throughout Massachusetts," said Lottery executive director Paul Sternburg. "We believe that the unique prize packages and one-of-a-kind team experiences offered in this new ticket, as well as the launch party event, will deliver some of that fun to our audiences and continue the momentum into this season."
By logging onto the Lottery's Facebook page, fans can enter for a chance to win tickets for the Stanley Cup launch event at the TD Garden until Sept. 26. Seventy-five winners will be selected and have the opportunity (along with a guest) to watch a Bruins practice, take pictures with the Stanley Cup and see the new lottery tickets unveiled.
The tickets will be available for purchase at 7,400 retailer locations on Oct. 4, just two days before the home opener for the Bruins against the Philadelphia Flyers.
