FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots reunited with defensive lineman Landon Cohen, who played well in training camp and the preseason but couldn't crack the team's initial 53-man roster due to the level of star power above him on the depth chart.
"That's out of my control," Cohen said Wednesday. "The only thing I can do is give it 100 percent of my effort and let the chips fall where they may."
The move was concurrent with Myron Pryor's placement on season-ending injured reserve. Cohen and Pryor are similar players, in that they can both perform better when they're asked to knife through the offensive line in the one-gap scheme, which the Patriots have utilized more this season.
Pryor was tied for the team lead with three quarterback hits through two games, and he was one of the most seldom used defensive linemen on the game-day roster. Cohen will likely receive a similar amount of reps, and he's amped up about the chance to step in and contribute.
"It feels good," Cohen said. "I'm ready to get started. Big week against Buffalo, and I'm excited for the opportunity."
