Whether or not Chung will suit up in Oakland is a different matter entirely. Chung, who had surgery on his thumb last week, has a shorter cast that cuts off just above his wrist and allows his thumb to stick out. His previous cast completely covered his thumb.
"It's all right," Chung said. "I'll be ready to play. If coach wants me out there, then I'm out there."
Chung said he feels "good," but his playing status will be up to the medical staff and head coach Bill Belichick.
"I don't make those decisions," Chung said. "I'm just going to make sure I'm ready to go."
The Patriots had some communication issues on the defensive side of the ball with Chung out of the lineup against the Bills. His absence proved just how important he is to that team.
Chung is just doing everything he can to keep himself ready to go this week, and he has practiced both Wednesday and Thursday.
"Always, any time, hurt, injury, you have to always prepare mentally, physically, whatever you have to do to make sure that you know what you're doing," Chung said. "So if Coach needs you to go in there, you're ready."
