Vote: What Do You Think of Russell Martin’s ‘I Hate the Red Sox’ Quote?

Russell Martin was almost a member of the Red Sox. Several reports over the winter linked the backstop to Boston, though eventually, Martin signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Yankees.

And apparently in that process, the 28-year-old developed a deep hatred for the Red Sox.

“I hate the Red Sox,” Martin said Thursday.

Well, all right then.

Martin has appeared in 10 games against Boston this year, hitting .257 in the process. He has been hit by two pitches in 40 plate appearances in those games, so maybe he’s sour about that. Or maybe he’s just trying to fit in with the Yankees. Who knows?
