FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots got some great news Thursday when tight end Aaron Hernandez, defensive lineman Mike Wright and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth returned to the practice field.

Linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back), running back Danny Woodhead (ankle) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (ankle) were absent from the workout, which was held in full pads for the fourth time in 16 regular-season practices, not including walkthroughs.

Wright hadn’t practiced since suffering a concussion in the season opener against the Dolphins. Hernandez had missed every practice since injuring his knee in Week 2 against the Chargers.

Haynesworth hasn’t played in the last two games due to a back injury. He has missed six regular-season practices, including five with the back injury. Haynesworth practiced once (Wednesday both times) during Weeks 3 and 4 but missed each game, so Thursday’s attendance doesn’t mean he’ll be ready for the Jets, as the back injury has proven to be a tricky one to conquer.
