Arron Asham-Jay Beagle Fight Spurs Discussion of Fighting’s Role in NHL

Where do you stand on fighting in the NHL?

After the Arron AshamJay Beagle fight last week, many around the league have begun questioning whether or not fighting will remain in the league long-term.

Many fans point to the fighting as hypocrisy while the league tries to cut down on headshots in play. If Brendan Shanahan and co. are so concerned about headshots while skating, why are players allowed to punch each other in the head?

On the other hand, there are many who would argue that fighting is an integral part of the game that allows the players to police themselves and separates hockey from the other main sports.

NESN Nation's Dan Duquette asked our Facebook fans and Twitter followers where they stand on the fighting controversy and picked out some of their responses. Where do you stand? Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts in the comments.
