Bobby Allen, defenseman for Boston College and a native of Weymouth, Mass., was selected by the Bruins in the second round, 52nd overall, in the 1998 NHL entry draft. He was the first of three Boston College players chosen in the draft.
After toiling in the minors for almost a decade, Allen made made it to the NHL with Boston and played in 50 games with the B's between 2006 and 2008.
The other Eagles players to be drafted were Brian Gionta, who went in the third round to the New Jersey Devils and Rob Scuderi, who went in the fifth round to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
