Liverpool target Gaston Ramirez is negotiating a new contract with Bologna that would discourage him from forcing a January move to Liverpool. Football Italia reports the Italian club will offer Ramirez a new deal that would potentially quadruple his salary.

Agents for the highly-rated Uruguayan winger have flown to Italy to negotiate the deal. His current contract runs until 2015, but both parties would be willing to scrap it in favor of the new one.

The new contract will reportedly contain a release clause of around £12 million ($19.3 million). The player will be allowed to negotiate with any club that meets that fee.

The 20-year-old has attracted attention from Liverpool and other top clubs because of his standout performances in Serie A. He moved to Bologna in August 2010 for £4.84 million ($7.6 million) and went straight into the first team.
