FOXBORO, Mass. — Tight end Dan Gronkowski didn't even leave the area after getting released by the Patriots last month.

He was told to rehab his injured hamstring, and it sounded like his reunion was a forgone conclusion.

"It definitely feels like I didn't leave," Gronkowski said. "You just come right back in, and you're part of the team again. I've got to just remember everything and get right onto Dallas.

"I just stayed around here and went and did some therapy and stuff. It's kind of a nice break in the season. I already got a little bye week, which was nice."

Gronkowski, who originally signed with the Patriots on Sept. 6, injured his hamstring and was held out of practice prior to their Week 3 trip to Buffalo. He was released just before the game to make room on the roster for safety Ross Ventrone, who needed to provide depth due to Patrick Chung's thumb injury.

Gronkowski said it was "definitely" disappointing to miss out on his homecoming to Buffalo but understood the reasoning. After re-signing Monday with the Patriots, he's hoping his second stay will last a little longer.

"I just really had to go get healthy," Gronkowski said, "and it's good to be back."
