FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots have officially placed defensive lineman Mike Wright on injured reserve due to lingering effects from his concussion. It's the second consecutive season in which Wright's season has come to an end due to a concussion.

Wright suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Colts in 2010, and he suffered another one this season in Week 1 against the Dolphins. He practiced on a limited basis last Thursday and Friday, but he missed Wednesday's session due to the concussion symptoms.

Wright is under contract through 2012 and is on the books for $2.355 million next season.

The Patriots signed cornerback Phillip Adams to the active roster to replace Wright. Adams was on the roster for two weeks this season but did not play against the Bills or Raiders before being released last Saturday.
