Look out, Tom Dempsey, Jason Elam and Sebastian Janikowski. Your 63-yard boots are no match for Austin Pacheco's 64-yarder.
Pacheco, a kicker for Carson High School in Nevada, drilled a 64-yard field goal on Saturday, which is longer than the current NFL record of 63 yards.
The amazing, game-winning kick came with 27 seconds left in Carson's 27-24 victory over Bishop Monague High School, reports the Nevada Appeal.
"I'm still in shock," said Pacheco, who said his coach told him before the game that he'd have a chance at anything 65 yards and under. "I knew it was good as soon as I hit it. The snap was perfect and the hold was perfect. The wind was blowing to the right and I played it perfectly."
The kick is the second longest in Nevada state history, according to Yahoo Sports. The longest was a 68-yarder by Dirk Borgognone of Reno High School in 1985. Borgognone's boot is reportedly a Nevada and national high school record.
Pacheco's 64-yard kick is the fourth longest in high school history.
It's worth noting that Pacheco's kick came off a tee, which obviously wasn't the case for those field goals booted in the NFL. Pacheco's coach, Blair Roman, doesn't care, though. He's still impressed.
"That [field goal] broke the NFL record. I know it was off a tee and I know it was wind-aided, but it was a great kick," he told the Nevada Appeal. "It was fourth-and-13, and we're not a fourth-and-13 team. I knew he had the leg to make it."
