The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and NESN are teaming up to track down the state’s High School Coach of the Year.

The award honors “teacher-coaches” who have had an impact on the lives of student-athletes, by encouraging them to succeed and by helping them develop self-confidence, ambition, a sound work ethic, and other skills or values necessary or helpful for success in their later lives.

All nominees must be an active varsity coach for at least five years in a sanctioned sport at an MIAA member school.

To nominate a coach, please print and fill out the nomination form, and submit it to MIAA.

Nominations may be submitted by principals, athletic directors, teachers, coaches, guidance counselors, other school administrators, student-athletes, parents of students, family of student or friends of students. The nomination deadline is March 23, 2012.

An MIAA selection committee will determine the award recipients, and they will be honored at the MIAA/NESN Coach of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Month Recognition Banquet.
