The latest Red Sox managerial candidate is a familiar face from the team's 2004 championship season.

According to CSNNE's Sean McAdam, former third base coach Dale Sveum is on the club's list of candidates to replace departed manager Terry Francona. Sveum served under Francona as third base coach on the 2004 World Series team and held the same position in 2005 before leaving at the end of that year.

Sveum currently serves as the bench coach for the Milwaukee Brewers who will play in Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday afternoon.

The 47-year-old has minimal managing experience, at least at the major-league level. He stepped in to skipper the Brewers down the stretch in 2008 on an interim basis after Ned Yost was fired. Milwaukee went 7-5 under Sveum's watch before fallinng in the NLDS to the Phillies.

Sveum also has experience managing in the minors.
