BOSTON — NESN, New England's most-watched sports network, announced Thursday that Don Orsillo has agreed to a multiyear contract extension that will keep the popular Red Sox play-by-play voice with the network through the 2015 season. Orsillo has served as NESN's Boston Red Sox play-by-play announcer since 2001, calling over 1,400 regular season games on NESN.
"Don is one of the preeminent play-by-play announcers in the league and one of the reasons NESN’s Red Sox broadcast is considered among the best in the business," said Sean McGrail, NESN's president and CEO. "He brings passion and meticulous preparation to his work every night, along with a sense of humor that has endeared him to Red Sox Nation."
Orsillo has raised his national profile by serving as a play-by-play announcer for TBS during the network’s MLB playoff coverage for the past five seasons. In addition to his play-by-play duties on NESN, Orsillo is also hosting Red Sox Hot Stove LIVE this offseason which airs Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
NESN has consistently been one of the top-rated regional sports networks in the country with award-winning Red Sox and Bruins coverage. The network is delivered to over 4 million homes throughout the six-state New England region and an additional 3.7 million homes nationally as NESN National. NESN.com, the network’s online sports news service, is one of the most-visited regional sports network websites in the country. NESN also produces a number of distinctive programs under its umbrella Original NESN Entertainment (ONE). NESN is owned by Fenway Sports Group (owners of the Boston Red Sox) and the Boston Bruins.
