Kevin Bieksa Says Mark Recchi ‘Can Go Take a Nap’ in Response to Former Bruin Calling Canucks Arrogant

Mark Recchi's comments about the Canucks this past week aren't sitting well in the Vancouver locker room.

Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa even felt the need to sound off after Recchi called the Canucks the "most arrogant" and "most hated team" he's ever played against.

"Isn't he retired? What's he doing? Tell him to go play a round of golf or take a nap," Bieksa said, according to The Province.

Bieksa then insisted that you can call the Canucks a lot of things, but he doesn't think "arrogant" is one of them.

"The twins are so humble and you may not like playing against guys like [Maxim] Lapierre, and [Alex] Burrows, but they're not arrogant," he said. "I just don't get it. Mark Recchi can go take a nap."

While it's unclear what Recchi does on a day-to-day basis now that he's retired, it's clear that Bieksa is adamant about the former Bruins forward catching some Z's in his post-playing days.

Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault also expressed displeasure with Recchi's comments, although he stopped short of recommending a sleep schedule for the three-time Stanley Cup champion.

"I've known Mark, I've coached Mark, he's a quality person," Vigneault said. "But you can also win with class. You don't need to rub it in. It was a seven-game series. This team, in my mind, is about integrity. We play the right way. They won."

The right way? Well, I guess that depends on who you ask.
