The Islanders don’t count as part of the Boston-New York rivalry, apparently.
You might think they could, since “New York” is a big part of their name and they’ve given the Bruins a formidable opponent to battle on Monday night. But according to NESN Nation’s fans, they just can’t muster up the vitriol for the Isles that they would for a Giants or Jets or Yankees team.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette thinks that the Islanders could have a chance at working their way into the rivalry, but they have a little ways to go.
