Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden was arrested Friday morning after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend, the Green Bay Press Gazette first reported.

Because of the holiday weekend, Walden will be held in jail until at least Monday morning on suspicion of felony domestic violence-substantial battery.

The incident occurred early Friday morning around 2:30 a.m., and after being treated for a cut and bump on her hand and right hand injury, Walden's girlfriend called the police to report the alleged incident.

The Green Bay linebacker was booked at Brown County Jail by 8 a.m. Friday morning.

The Packers declined comment on the situation.

Walden is enjoying the most successful season of his four-year NFL career this season. Walden has played in all 11 games for the Packers and has 41 tackles (28 solo) and three sacks.

Walden's arrest comes a week after suspended defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was sentenced to six years in prison after violating terms of his probation on a drug charge.
