A fan at a Romanian soccer match ran onto the field and punched a visiting player in the head, breaking his cheekbone, on Sunday night. On Monday, the fan was charged with disturbing public order and committing violence.

The match, which was between Steaua Bucharest and Petrolul Ploiesti, was halted on account of the violence, according to ESPN.com.

The player, defender George Galamaz of Steaua Bucharest, was hospitalized and will be sidelined for 45 days. His attacker, Dragos Petrut Enache, was knocked to the ground by Galamaz's teammates, who began beating him. Security staff quickly removed the fan from the field. Prosecuters said Enache had taken drugs before the attack.
