Drew Brees Breaks Dan Marino's Single-Season Passing Yards RecordMove over, Dan Marino. Drew Brees is the new single-season passing yards record holder.

Brees broke Marino's 27-year-old record with a 9-yard touchdown strike to running back Darren Sproles during the fourth quarter of the Saints' Monday night matchup against the Falcons. The record-setting toss sent the Saints crowd into a frenzy and momentarily stopped the game, as everyone paid tribute to Brees' amazing feat.

The New Orleans quarterback entered Monday's game needing 305 yards to break Marino's 1984 mark of 5,084 passing yards.

Brees not only broke Marino's long-standing record with one game to spare, but he also helped guide the Saints to a convincing 45-16 win. The victory also clinches an NFC South title for New Orleans, and keeps the team in position to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs.
