Flyers Defenseman Kimmo Timonen Laid Out by Referee (Video)

The Washington Capitals needed any help they could get on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Trailing 5-0 late in the third period, they got it from an on-ice official. Referee Stephen Walkom tried to jump out of the way of the action after stopping to collect a broken stick but wasn't quick enough. Instead, he ended up checking Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen and knocking him to the ground. 

We're not sure why Walkom thought jumping was the best idea in this situation, but he ended up getting Timonen with a pretty clean hit. Check it out in the video below.
