Is Madonna a Good Choice to Perform During the Super Bowl Halftime Show?Judging by the reaction the announcement received on Twitter and Facebook, the NFL's choice of Madonna to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show is not an overwhelmingly popular one. The 53-year-old pop star joined a list that in recent years has included Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and, infamously, The Black Eyed Peas.

Bob Costas, in perhaps the finest moment of his career as a journalist, made the announcement during Sunday Night Football.

Madonna might be a popular choice with women between the ages of 20 and 45, but more than half the NFL's viewership — men — are likely to take a bathroom break or go grab some more buffalo wings when Madonna starts her set. But, hey, she's sold more than 300 million records, so somebody must enjoy her music.

Heaven knows she couldn't be worse than Fergie.

What do you think of the NFL selecting Madonna to perform at halftime of Super Bowl XLVI?
