Former Mets general manager Steve Phillips‘ professional relationship with Bobby Valentine in New York didn’t end on the smoothest of terms. However, time has healed those wounds, and now Phillips says the Red Sox have a top-notch manager in Valentine.
Tom Caron caught up with Phillips at the winter meetings, and the former Mets executive thinks Valentine’s energy will be infectious as he takes over in Boston. Phillips also believes that Valentine will continue to succeed at getting a good read on his players and push whatever buttons need to be pushed.
