The Red Sox' September collapse has been beaten to death. And while there aren't many things that can ease the pain of such a historic downfall, Sox fans can take solace in the fact that the team is working as hard as ever this offseason.
General manager Ben Cherington sat down with NESN's Tom Caron and Peter Gammons down at the winter meetings in Dallas to discuss a number of topics. Among them was the contact that he and new manager Bobby Valentine have had with various players throughout the offseason.
Cherington said that Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Carl Crawford and a number of other players are working extremely hard in order to get ready for 2012. He said that he thinks the players are motivated even more by the September collapse.
