Despite Danny Ainge's and Doc Rivers' best efforts, reports of the Celtics aggressively trying to trade Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul won't be going away, because those reports appear to be true.

The latest comes Thursday morning from Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

"The New Orleans Hornets [are] redoubling their research of Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo as a possible centerpiece of a blockbuster deal," he reported. "The Celtics have relentlessly pursued Paul and have presented the Hornets with as many as eight different scenarios that would bring them some combination of Rondo, Jeff Green, two future No. 1 picks and additional talent from third teams."

Sources told Wojnarowski that Ainge is willing to gamble on Paul signing an extension with the Celtics after convincing the star point guard that he can be the biggest star on a championship team.

Wojnarowski reported that the Hornets may not be completely sold on Rondo, but the offer from the Celtics may end up being the best one on the table, as was reported on Wednesday night.
