The Red Sox have been linked to Matt Garza a few times throughout this offseason, and the rumors are intensifying.

Talks regarding Garza are “heating up,” according to David Kaplan of Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. The Red Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays are reportedly all involved when it comes to trying to land the Chicago right-hander.

Kaplan notes, however, that the asking price for the 28-year-old hurler is high, meaning that it’s not a foregone conclusion that he’ll be dealt. The fact that Garza is under control contractually for two more seasons makes him even more enticing to teams.

It’s not surprising to see a trio of AL East teams inquiring about Garza, as he pitched three years in the AL East as a member of the Rays, during which he went 34-31 with a 3.86 ERA.

Cubs president Theo Epstein has previously stated that Garza is exactly the type of pitcher Chicago would like to build around, but he remains open to listening on anybody.
