Tom Cruise Thinks David Beckham Has a Future in Action MoviesTom Cruise thinks David Beckham should take up acting when he hangs up his cleats. Cruise told reporters that the former England captain would do well in front of the camera, according to the Daily Mirror.

“I’d love to do action movies with Beckham,” Cruise told reporters at the U.K. premier of the new Mission Impossible. “He would be great, he could kick ass. David would have to teach me to play soccer first.”

The pair have been good friends for over a decade. They have often been spotted together in and around Los Angeles since Beckham joined the L.A. Galaxy in 2007. Their families are particularly close with famous wives Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes sharing a bond.

Beckham is weighing his options for his next career move. The 36-year-old midfielder enjoyed his finest season in American soccer in 2011, leading the Galaxy to the MLS Cup crow and earning MLS best 11 recognition. His contract expires at the end of the calendar year and there is rampant speculation about where he will end his career.

The soccer icon will likely play until January or June of 2013 before retiring from professional soccer. An unnamed source told the Mirror that Beckham has discussed a possible acting career with confidants.

“David has been linked with Hollywood a number of times, but Tom is the only one he’d ever take up, he thinks Toms a legend,” the source said.

“He’d still like to have a sporting element to it. Tom’s a sporty guy, too, so any collaboration would be about something competitive.”
