Cam Neely, Bruins 'Disappointed' Tim Thomas Didn't Join Bruins for White House VisitThe Bruins were able to enjoy a special day as an organization on Monday afternoon in the nation’s capital.

The defending Stanley Cup champions were honored by President Barack Obama at the White House in a ceremony that those who attended likely won’t soon forget.

Yet, much of the attention has shifted from those participating in the visit to the one notable absentee — goaltender Tim Thomas.

Thomas issued a statement after the ceremony on why he elected not to attend, and the Bruins have responded with a statement of their own.

Below is team president Cam Neely‘s statement on the issue on behalf of the team.

“As an organization we were honored by President Obama’s invitation to the White House. It was a great day and a perfect way to cap our team’s achievement from last season. It was a day that none of us will soon forget. We are disappointed that Tim chose not to join us, and his views certainly do not reflect those of the Jacobs family or the Bruins organization. This will be the last public comment from the Bruins organization on this subject.”
