The Red Sox may be close to adding pitcher in Vicente Padilla in a low-risk move to add depth to their starting rotation.

Pailla has already received a physical from the Red Sox, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports. He apparently is about full strength and his fastball is back in the mid-90s.

The 34-year-old pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2011 but had his season cut short due to a neck surgery in June. He has a career record of 104-90 with a 4.31 ERA. As a starter, he is 97-81 with a 4.33 ERA.
