Steven Kampfer has played a unique role for the Bruins this season, as he's the guy that's immediately called upon if the Bruins suddenly need help on their blue line. With Andrew Ference serving a three-game suspension, his services are again required.
Kampfer said before Sunday's thrilling shootout victory over the Flyers that he's ready to step in with the big club whenever needed. He said that his only concern is doing what he can to help the Bruins win games, which is a positive attitude shared by his teammates.
Ference will also miss Tuesday night's game against Washington and the first game after the All-Star break against Ottawa on Jan. 31.
