Wes Welker Feeling the Power of His New MustacheFOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker has a little extra swagger this week with a mustache that has taken on a life of its own.

"It seems to give you power, especially late in the season and stuff," Welker said Thursday. "I've been feeling it this week, and hopefully it carries through to Saturday."

Welker, who admitted to being a little superstitious, started growing it for the playoffs, and his Twitter followers have given him an overwhelming amount of support. They've sent him photos of their own mustaches, and the new collection of hair below Welker's nose has developed something of a cult following.

He has printed out red T-shirts and distributed them to his teammates, and Welker wants to turn it into some charitable work by raising money for the Wes Welker Foundation that supports inner-city kids from Oklahoma City.

Sticking more to the present, though, Welker wants to hear the support during Saturday's playoff game against the Broncos.

"Hopefully here at Gillette, we'll be 'stached out and ready to go for the game," Welker said.
