Which Eastern Conference Team Presents Biggest Threat to Bruins This Season? The Bruins are no stranger to marquee matchups this season. Their Saturday afternoon affair with the New York Rangers marks the team’s third time playing in a game between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.

Throw in a few games against Detroit, Chicago and Vancouver from out West and the B’s have had a chance to test themselves against just about every top team in the NHL this year.

With the Ottawa Senators hot on the Bruins’ tail for the Northeast Division crown, there is no shortage of teams gunning for the Bruins’ spot and trying to unseat the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

So far, with every challenge that the Bruins have faced, they have come away with the upper hand. In the previous two matchups of the conference’s top teams, the B’s have finished victorious both times. They defeated the Penguins 3-1 in a game marred by Sidney Crosby‘s injury and dispatched the Philadelphia Flyers 6-1 in a statement game.

With the Bruins rising to the challenge of each marquee opponent in the East so far, it seems clear that the road to the Stanley Cup goes through Boston this season. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of teams ready to step up if the Bruins should falter.
