Who Should Zdeno Chara Avoid Choosing in NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft?

Zdeno Chara will not have the same break from playing that the rest of his teammates will enjoy during the All-Star festivities.

While he will be joined by teammates Tyler Seguin and Tim Thomas in Ottawa to play in this year’s All-Star game, Chara will also have the added responsibility of captaining his own team and drafting a varied cast of characters to play for Team Chara.

With the help of assistant captain Joffrey Lupul, Chara will have a difficult decision deciding who to pick, for sure. He may also have as much difficulty figuring out who to avoid.

Many Bruins fans may be hoping that Chara can convince Lupul to let Phil Kessel twist in the wind again and end up as the final pick in the draft for a second straight year. Shawn Thornton, to his credit, has already weighed in himself, suggesting that Chara make Kessel go last and also avoid drafting any Vancouver Canucks.

That would mean no Henrik or Daniel Sedin sporting Team Chara jerseys, something that any Boston fan would be OK with. However, it might also be fun to split up the Sedins again and prevent them from playing with each other like they usually do.

Elsewhere, Bruins rivals Carey Price and Dennis Wideman will be available if Chara so chooses, but it’s likely that fans will be hoping that he doesn’t. However, the numbers of players left may dwindle on Thursday, leaving Chara with a daunting task of choosing the lesser of many evils.

If it were up to you, which player should Team Chara avoid drafting at all costs?
