Argentina to Honor Train Accident Victims With Black Arm Band

The players of Argentina’s national team will wear black armbands in their friendly match against Switzerland in honor of the 51 victims of the train accident on Feb. 22.

The team, led by Alejandro Sabella, will play the FIFA date on Wednesday. Various players from Argentina have shown their support to the victims via various social media sites. Lionel Messi, through his foundation, sent his condolences.

A moment of silence will also be observed before the friendly despite the match being played in Switzerland in the Stade Suisse.

On the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 22, a train from the Sarmiento line lost control as it approached the terminal, crashing into the train in front of it.

It is the first game played by the national team since the tragedy. The team is fielding its top players for the first time in 2012.
