Derek Fisher and Steve Blake simply aren’t cutting it for the Lakers, and coach Mike Brown doesn’t look ready to hand over the keys to Andrew Goudelock. That has led to the Lakers looking just about anywhere for an upgrade at point guard.

The Lakers have been connected in reports with Aaron Brooks, who has been playing in the Chinese Basketball Association, and Allen Iverson, a 36-year-old former MVP who last played in the 2009-10 season.

Now it seems the Lakers’ best option at the “1” might be Zero.

Gilbert Arenas, also known as Agent Zero, engaged in a workout the Lakers attended, Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday night. Arenas has played 102 of a possible 164 games over the past two seasons due to injuries and a 50-game suspension from bringing a gun into the Wizards locker room.

Arenas, 30, was a one-time scoring machine, but the Orlando Magic used their amnesty clause on him in December.

“I love playing with him, and he brings out some of my best golf. I hope that he continues to play better and better, and I hope that he and I have a chance to play together more in the final rounds.”

This is an outrage. The “5 feet, 10 inches of Pure Beast” monicker is a trademarked nickname I’ve used since junior high. Expect to be hearing from my lawyer, Alex Mason.
