Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes dealt with a knee issue for the last three months of the season, and he tended to it Tuesday.

Spikes had surgery to clean out some cartilage, according to the Boston Herald. The report indicated the surgery "went very well."

Spikes, who tweeted Tuesday that he was set for surgery, injured his right knee in Week 9 against the Giants, and he missed the Patriots' next seven games. Spikes returned to become one of the team's best defensive players in the postseason, despite wearing a knee brace all the way through the Super Bowl.
