Boston College made a big-time statement on Friday night, taking down Providence 4-2 en route to the Hockey East finals and yet another win for the Eagles.
BC, the nation's No. 1 team, is set to face off with another top-10 opponent in Maine to decided the conference championship on Saturday. The Eagles are excited for the affair, but Jerry York's bunch is in such a good position that they may not need to even win the final in order to lock down a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Hockey Tournament.
A few other Hockey East school's are near-locks for the tournament as well, but upstart UMass-Lowell is right on the verge of entrance into the tourney and could be one of the final name's called.
USCHO.com senior writer Jim Connolly stopped by to discuss the tournament potential for some local schools as well as his take on the Hockey East finals.
