When it comes to their kids' sporting events, parents are sometimes guilty of going a little overboard on the sidelines.
That was certainly the case during the Medway-Ashland vs. Winthrop high school girls hockey game Wednesday night, when the father of a Winthrop player was kicked out of the facility for flashing a laser pointer at opposing players, according to WHDH.
With the tournament game tied 1-1, the parent was spotted with the laser in the third period and was immediately escorted out of the Lawrence N. Larsen Skating Facility. According to the report, he has also been banned from all future sporting events.
"What is aggravating is that, why would you do that to both teams?" said Winthrop Schools Superintendent John Macero. "Both teams have earned the right — the Medway girls and the Winthrop girls — to have this opportunity to perform in a game, and for someone to come in and do that inappropriate action was uncalled for."
Winthrop went on to win 3-1, but Medway-Ashland appealed to the MIAA, requesting for the game to be replayed.
However, on Friday the MIAA upheld the 3-1 victory for Winthrop, according to the multiple reports.
