Patriots safety Josh Barrett is taking advantage of one of the NFL's most unique offseason programs.
Barrett has enrolled in the NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program at Harvard Business School, and he'll take part in the five-day workshop next week. The purpose is to help players prepare for life after football.
Barrett is among the league's 66 players who enlisted in the program, which also takes place at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. More than 700 players have participated in the program since its inception in 2005.
The Harvard program focuses on developing a business plan in investments, real estate and retailing, among other areas. Northwestern's program, which takes place April 1-5, is dedicated toward "entrepreneurship, underscoring the fundamentals of investing and how to create and finance new ventures," according to the NFL's release.
Colts fullback Chris Gronkowski, the brother of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, and former Patriots offensive lineman Russ Hochstein have also enrolled in the Harvard program. Other notable attendees include Redskins quarterback John Beck, Chargers free agent defensive end Luis Castillo, Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich, Bills linebacker Kirk Morrison and Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn.
Former Patriots running back Thomas Clayton has enrolled in the Northwestern program. Other notable attendees include Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff, former Ravens wide receiver Lee Evans and Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano.
