Soccer is returning to Fenway Park, and this time, it will be a familiar face for Boston-area soccer fans.

Liverpool FC will take on AS Roma at Fenway Park this summer as part of a North America summer tour for the historic Premier League club, Fenway Sports Management announced Wednesday. The two clubs will square off at the historic ballpark on July 25 as part of Fenway's 100th anniversary celebration this summer.

Unsurprisingly, Boston will also serve as LFC's home away from home during the 12-day tour, as Liverpool will conduct its practices at Harvard.

"During its 100-year history, Fenway Park has hosted some of the best in athletic competition, and a match between Liverpool and AS Roma — two of the world's most well-known and respected clubs — is an appropriate way to help celebrate Fenway's 100th anniversary and showcase our ballpark to an international audience," Fenway Sports Group principal owner John Henry said in a statement.

"We're really looking forward to this tour because the caliber of the opposition is so strong," added LFC manager Kenny Dalglish. "It will be good to give our supporters in North America the chacne to watch us live this summer and we've had some amazing matches against Roma in the past, particularly in the 1984 European Cup final."

Fenway Park hosted soccer as recently as 2010, when Celtic FC and Sporting SP played a friendly at the park. That was the first soccer match held at Fenway in 42 years.

Tickets for the match will go on sale April 28, and fans can visit LFCTour.com for more information.
